Cheshire Ploughing Competition - Warburton's Farm, Frodsham

What a great day for Cheshire farmers and all of us interested in rural and agricultural life to see the Cheshire Ploughing match.  It was wonderful that it was our own Warburton's Farm that were hosting the event.  A huge thank you to them for helping put on a fantastic show.

The fields between Helsby High School and the Netherton were a hive of activity.  There appeared to be every imaginable form of tractor and JCB on display.   Land Rover would have been proud to have noted just how many of their vehicles were there. And there were loads of trade stalls.

But of course the stars of the show were those competing in the ploughing competitions and other country crafts such as hedge laying.  It was good to see Cheshire Police there along with our police and crime commissioner John Dwyer.

I had questioned John only last week about rural crime levels - and meeting him and one of Cheshire Police's rural crime squad gave me an opportunity to probe further.  I was also pleased to see Operation Shield being advertised too... but more of that in a later posting.

I took a number of photographs.
